Rattlesnake!

Yea people have no clue what lurks around especialy at night, my Grandpa lived in down town Port Arthur and his dog kept getting snake bit, he finely watched the dog and found it trying to get to the snakes behind his garage under some stacked tin, there were a whole nest of copper heads.

I tend to favor letting things be too. It seems people for the most part think all snakes must die, without understanding how crucial their existence is to the natural balance. I understand this was in town but was relocation not an option?
I didn't kill it. Construction workers working on the house across the street found and killed it. Two houses across the street have been vacant for over 2 years and they both have a crawl space under them. I would imagine the rattlesnake was well fed on rats and mice. I have never tried to catch a venomous snake before and would more n' likely get myself bit, so I probably have killed it too because it is in a closely populated area. The house backs up to several businesses that are on Highway 190 that goes through town.

I would have killed it too, I've had too many run-ins with copperhead bites to be generous anymore, Two horses, two dogs, lost one and one cat also lost. Re-locating is not as kind as it seems, and also illegal in some parts. The black snake that lives in my raised beds can stay, but it has been doing a lousy job with the voles.
I don't kill every snake I see, but in my yard if they are poison yes, Just my .02.
