Hi!
I read the chicken treat chart and see that meat is ok for chickens, but wondering if that is all kinds of meat and does anyone know if it can be raw or cooked?

I have a small amount of raw sausage that I was going to throw in the coop, but just wanted to check first if I need to cook it.
Thanks in advance!

Cook it first! They will be happy to eat anything, but sausage is likely to be contaminated with bacteria, which is why we cook it, and your birds don't need to add something like salmonella to their eggs!
Very highly salted items aren't good for them either, so if that's a factor, feed it very sparingly.

Great! Thank you so much, I didn't think about the salmonella, I will need to do more research on that. Cooked up the sausage though, it's a very small amount, I just hate to throw it out. Thank you!

Chickens can eat raw meat, Just not heavily processed raw meat.
A chicken would literally eat it’s dead friend raw if it had the chance.

No need to cook meat for them, Their immune system can handle the amount of bacteria that we can’t
