RCom vs. Brinsea

Which Brinsea model do you have?

Octogon Eco 20 I have 11 sebrights and 4 mutts in there now.

What are your hatch rates like with that one? Do you have to open it to add water? Is the humidity difficult to control without the auto humidity?

Yes I have to open it to add water, but I have noticed with this bator that the humidity goes up REALLY fast once water is added, so this hatch I only add 1/4 cup at a time. My first two hatches failed, mainly because Ken fiddled with it WAY too much. So far temops have been steady at 99.5-99.9 and humidity at 30-31% - except tonight. Went from LO to 49% which still isn't bad.

For me it boiled down to this: With the rcom 20, I liked the big clear obstacle free window on top. Both, aside from that, are excellent

BTW, how do I get my brinsea spot check wire thru without it propping open the window?

Well you all talked us right into a new incubator!...We ordered the R Com king suro...Sure hope we like it!...Now I am going to need more eggs to hatch!...

I bought a second bator, an rcom 20. The temp was preset at 99.5, which was fine. But it was reading low with my Brinsea spot check, and I ended up setting the bator to 100.5 to get 99.5. Anyone else?

GET THE R-COM 20, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

. I have one and i hatched guineas last year, chickens, quail, even robin eggs in it. I found some robin eggs on the ground abandoned, so i took them in and put them in the r-com and in a few eeks it hatched!!!!!! I was SOOOOO SURPRISED!!!!!! all my eggs hatch in it, it keeps the correct temp for you throughout the whole incubation, plus the correct humidity, i have the one where it has settings on it, chicken, Duck, Goose, quail, pheasent, and mystery bird, all you do is put it on one of those setting and you're set! all you do is top up with water every few days, I LOVE MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
