Re-assembling a Little Giant 11lb metal feeder?

I had exactly the same problem - then I realized that I didn't have those little metal stoppers. I contacted Miller Manufacturing, they were very nice on the phone, and sent me out two of the stoppers at no charge. FWIW, the actual cost if you wanted to buy the stoppers - they are only 36c each, I don't know about shipping, but, can't imagine it would be much.

I will sheepishly admit I later found the two stoppers that had came with the feeder in their little baggie near my compost heap when the feeder was about two months old - they must have been with it originally, and I never noticed and they blew over there.

To the OP, I would contact the company, and get some stoppers. If you had them on originally, I can't see how they would have been scratched off - when clipped on mine seemed like they were on really securely.

I've tried to bend those wires with pliers and had no success. And I think it's beneficial to be able to take them apart when it's needed from time to time. Sometimes mine will get rained in and I then take it apart so the chickens can eat up the wet feed before it goes bad. I do take thin plastic plant saucers and cut slots in their edges to make a rain cover, but here in South Fla the rains are relentless.

We are going to contact the company for the little widgets. That does seem like the best option at this point. I am sure I don't remember ever having those things on it before, and I don't recall there being a tiny baggie when we bought it, but it's entirely likely.
