My husband is the one building this for me, so i cant take the credit. So far, heres what he has done...

Hes put 2 computer fans in the top, that blows the heating element air down the back of the fridge. The air will go down to the bottom and recirculate up to the top again. The heating element he used is out of an older incubator that was all torn up. He has put the red indicator light on the top of the fridge as well (parden the dust on the top, we havent made it pretty yet lol). He also marked where my 4,yes 4!! egg turners will be. It will hold up to 200 eggs. The turners will be made out of pvc pipe, and controlled by an outside handle. (P.S. THE WIRES WILL BE TUCKED AWAY!! )

The thermostat will be hooked up today

In the bottom he has bent, and made a hatching basket, and added a light bulb for warmth. We will cover it with a screen so they dont get hurt on it.

Under the hatcher will be a pan of water with sponges in it...

so thats the beginning!! and heres the pics....

If that is a heating element from a LG style incubator, it wont be sufficient heat! Ask me how I know... LOL I had to add a 60w light bulb to the hatcher I just built... which is not sitting cold.

The window ended up coming unglued due to the humidity so I've got to fix that now.

Looking good though!

This is great. I went and picked up an old fridge yesterday to try and build one!! I'm figuring out all the wiring and such that will go in it. Are ya'll just using one thermostat?

BTW- is this a small fridge like out of a camper? Why do the sponges go at the bottom instead of close to the heat?

he picked up one thermostat, so im guessing yes.

the fridge is about 3+ ft tall, as tall as my 3 1/2 year old

ill ask him about the water pan with the sponges.

I am planning to use two thermostats, the main one set for 99.5 and the secondary set for 101. Just in case the first one doesn't shut it off, the second one will without burning up my eggs. Looks really great!! Wish you all the luck with it and such a good hubby to help you!!

freezer part? im lost. this is a medium sized fridge. so it has only 1 side if thats what you mean???

yea i was talking about if you could use a fridge that has the top part freezer. if you would be able to turn both areas in to useable space. like the fridge the bator and the freezer the brooder.
