Most live insects will do the trick. Even one day old chicks will consume like crickets although they may require their mothers help in dismembering each insect. Meal worms and crickets can be acquired commercially.
I think I will wait on any live critters until they are outside. My basement is mostly a quilting studio, crickets love cotton fabrics and if they get loose ugg. Now and then I get a cricket down there and can never find the noisy thing; I find dead ones in folded fabric occasionally or inside the rolls of batting.
