It seems that many "help me" threads eventually get overwhelmed with off-topic banter. If you start a thread, you can control it. Feel free to tell posters that get off-topic that you prefer that it stay on-topic. Don't be rude about it, but there should be no harm in asking that "your" thread stay on the topic at hand. Especially if actual help is still needed. As a helper, please don't take offense if an OP calls you out on non-topic related posts!
Perfect! And some OP's will be new, and maybe a little shy, so I think it's okay for other members to help keep the thread on topic, especially when it's about a sick animal.

You should ask Liz.
You're funny. Liz I think is the exception, 'cause she's said before that she reads the whole thread. If on a computer it's no big deal to read an entire 10 page thread, but on a cell phone or a tablet, I'm lucky if I can read more than the first and last pages. :(

I doubt it...I get sick of scrolling thru the blather no matter how many pages it takes.
Its called freedom of speech
I may have started the off topic posts and for that I apologize to the OP but you must realize this whole thread has been off topic including the bickering you spoke of.
Sometimes people miss posts as in Casprtponys case where she is on a small phone. I have missed whole pages by hitting the wrong button. Its human nature to want to help. Well, for most of us anyway. As pack animals, we want to belong and for myself being made to feel like what I said was blather really hurts.

because your supposed to be here to have fun and learn and teach. Personally for myself its to have fun.

I think most of us enjoy the fun, but i think there is a time and place for it.

I did read the thread, but I thought it was asking for suggestions.

My apologies to you, but when you apologized if it was a repeat, it sounded like you hadn't read it all. I do believe similar suggestions were already discussed. It could work, but probably isn't feasible for the basic user just trying to get some help for their bird.
I'd guess we also don't want to discourage more posting and ideas too. But thanks for helping and joining the discussion! :)

I think editing the initial post with updates is the easiest thing to do, but I doubt most new users would do it.

:hugs you aren't to blame. As we have quickly proven, it just happens!

Perhaps we long timers can help coach new folks when we see that their issue has likely been solved.

Perhaps by posting something like...
"Hello! (Put a tag for the OP here) It looks like the issue has been solved. If you agree and would like folks to be able to see that, you are encouraged to update your initial post. Including a quote of the solution may help others solve their similar issue faster."
