I probably shouldn't even respond to this thread since I'm fairly new here and I haven't read all 20 pages of this thread, but it sure would be nice if the admins could require that members put their location in their profile before they're allowed to post questions. Sure would eliminate a lot of unnecessary questions. I apologise if this has already been suggested in this thread. Like I said, I'm guilty of not reading all of the posts in this thread.

Hey, at least you admit it!
But seriously, that is exactly what this is about. Mainly because people don't bother to read a whole thread, or at least enough to get the gist, they still feel the need to comment. Not bashing you specifically, it happens so much, this thread now has the 20 pages you mention.
We've decided that its mostly just the nature of the beast, it's going to happen.

Anyway, your comment is a good one, but privacy is the issue with requiring that info. We have minors as members, and we have folks who just don't want to share that info. If it's relative to an issue, you can always ask whereabouts they are located.

Welcome to the discussion!

With the new platform, mobile is not much different than desktop computer... though you see more with a phone sideways than upright...

If you want to see how us mobile users see BYC then just shrink your window size down... ;)
No, Thank You! :D
Can mobile users have multiple tabs in browser windows?
I find that very handy, especially with the new platform.

you sort of have to disclose at least the general area to get any useful responses on some topics (coops, gardening). As an international forum, there are people all over, and things are very different here in oz from, say, alaska. It can save a lot of time knowing where somebody is.

I know sometimes when I do a search the title of a thread catches my attention, I get excited, and forget to look at the original date.
Lol!
Also when using search sometimes you click on something that takes you to a post Where something was mentioned and if your new here you might not even realise you've joined in the middle. . . .I did this when I was new and tried to enter the cutest duckling contest. . without ever knowing the rules were in the first post until a few days later when I figured it out. So I can see how one can show up late to a party lol

Yep! That was one of the others that kicked my pet peeve, and caused this thread too. :D
Well see I am still learning. . . I had no idea if I turned my phone sideways the layout changed. I can also see everyone's signatures that I can't see with the phone upright!

Same here. I think that's why the turkey thread got so much activity. Turkey fell off the slaughter truck! I had to read it! :D
I also considered that when titling this one. Apparently it attracted a bit of attention too. :p

Yea, and I'm an upright mobile user, and some stuff is hidden upright. But i do remember to turn it sideways to check location, post count, stats, etc.

I think it depends on the device that a person has... but most of the newer smartphones have all kinds of stuff more like regular computers than they used to have...

Mine is a Droid, Galaxy s7 Edge, and it can also shrink a window to half screen and open a new one to have side-by-side simultaneous windows... unfortunately, I have only gotten it to shrink by accident so far... :lau

Exactly, and I believe mine says "roanoke area, Va" which actually covers an area of 4-5 counties and cities... Not super specific but will tell you what my climate is like. I live in a somewhat southern area surrounded by mountains...
