Ready or not!

Well I only have the two, so I did it to the both of them at the same time. They were so tiny so it was easy. It’s harder the more you have. Last year when my husband brought home EIGHT !!!
It was impossible to give them the one on one attention they needed to be tame enough for me. But now with only two it’s been the best two weeks ever. I have a slumber party every night with them. LOL

So, had to do it! The girls were getting much too big for their 45 gal tote brooder, so I had to move them into the basement. They have a huge space now and seem very happy (zooming around like crazy girls) but I miss them! My basement only has access from outside so dropping in to see them is much more of a chore. Im so pathetic haha.

I’ll be so happy when their outdoor coop/pen is ready (and they’re a little older) so I can see them whenever I want right out the window. Until then, I have a security cam hooked up so I can keep tabs on them (like an obsessive mom). :lau

They have so many new little feathers coming in. They’re like prickly little porcupines haha.

Here are some updated photos of them frolicking outside this weekend and some in-progress pics of their upcoming “duck mansion” we’re building!

Yes, that very first quack is a real milestone! I see that you've been bitten by the "building bug," so your flock will have only the finest lodging. And the growth......it is almost scary how fast they grow!
Any day now, their feather's color pattern will mature, and you will have the adult plumage, which for me, is wonderful. Since you have a great lawn, your flock will be stepping on nice, cushioned ground, and their feet won't have anything jagged to bruise them. So no worry of any bumblefoot for these girls!
I am so happy and proud for you! In my life, I have found that ducks have a calming effect on my moods and my personality. Also, as seasons pass, you might just find that you will want to add to the flock! I can only wish you happiness and good fortune with your flock. Way to go!!!
