Ready or not!

That's awesome that you foster animals!

Here are somethings that when looking back I would have modified differently:

I didn't use pine shaving when I 1st got mine and when I did start using them that's all they wanted to do was eat them. I would put some in the brooder so they get use to them.

Come up with your plan to expand now, I changed my brooder every week until I finally had it in place 4 weeks later.... just set up your biggest options now and save the headache.

Dollar store plastic shoe tote works great for a water container!Old cookie sheets and a cookie cooling rack has saved me in the clean up dept!! Put a puppy in between and bam! Water is contained!

Invest in a $1.00 store set of salad tongs and a box old pop box (or beer box...in my case)

These work great for picking out poo!

Finally, my last set up! I had the room to do this big of a brooder. Oh, get a stuff animal for them! Mine still snuggle every night with it when it’s time for bed!!! They live it!!

Hope this helps!!!

The DIY pooper scooper is brilliant! Definitely grabbing tongs for that today. I actually made a water dish just like that! This forum is filled with awesome ideas!

I'm going to set up the bigger brooder option tonight (pool) and test it out temperature-wise. I'd rather have the babies in this set up for now so I can keep a better eye on them. But knowing us, we'll probably come up with some crazy way to get a pool in the main house (with a cover of course to stop the cats from jumping in to "play") :lau

Here’s my set up! I’m sure they will outgrow it fast, but it’ll be a good start. I didn’t put the pine shavings in yet because I’ve read some things saying to wait a day or two to put them in. Until then I have a million and ten unscented puppy pads I can use :D. We work/foster for a local animal rescue so I always have a ton on hand haha. My zoo consists of three dogs and three cats, one of each species is special needs to top it all off! Growing up I always had a wide array of animals (SW fish, guinea pigs, bunnies, cats, dogs) so I’ve always deemed my house “the zoo” lol

I would raise that light some I had mine that close after I added chicks . if I didnt go down stairs when I did prob would have had chick bbq

the temp raised quickly in the same size tub I raised mine almost 20 inches away now keeping a steady 85*
just don't cook them I know you have ducks but broading works the same way
