I want some quail eggs. Lol I think I want everything poultry related!! Haha. I know od some one on here that has decent prices on bob white and Tennessee Red Quail seriously tempted after I get my quail racks.lol.

I am not really drawn to quail, we are not prepared for them and I seem to only get a mental picture of roasted quail?!

Haven't hatched any yet but I want to. Lol still waiting on the hubby to ok me for getting some quail racks for my auto turner. Just found out that the hubby might get me some B.R turkeys. ( Don't tell him I know as I over heard him talking to a friend of his that always goes to sales. ) yay!!

The reason I want quail is because its something new to hatch

I want so to make my egg basket more interesting. I have a few breeds in mind.. on that subject, I might just be the only person to ever specifically buy a rooster from a hatchery... I plan to order another batch of Sebrights, but I'm also going to pick up a few Amerucana males ... My next project is going to be olive eggers!!!

I know what you mean. This year I am adding blue and terra cotta eggs to my basket! I get several shades of medium brown, two shades of green, and some pretty cream colored eggs right now

Thank you! I can't put it off anymore - it's official, I'm older.
So far the quail bug hasn't bit me either. They're cute, but I have a good market for large brown eggs - so...the more they buy, the more chickens I NEED! Hahaha. I do agree about the breeder feed. I only have my experience with these chicks and what I've read. About a month before I collected eggs to hatch, I switched my chickens to a higher protein (including animal protein) grower feed along with the table scraps I give them. Their chicks all hatched out healthy and robust. I read it's important for breeders to get animal based protein (aka meat) more than soy protein. I'm sure it's controversial as some don't feed any animal protein but I do. Mine get suet, leftover fat waste from our dinners, most anything cooked. Don't know if I was just lucky, but their chicks are doing great.
