Ready Set Hatch! Set 3/17 Hatch 4/7 - ready now! Hatch-Along

Sorry the cull was necessary - can't be easy but I'm sure seeing them suffer is worse :( you have some adorable chicks so far! I will also hopefully have some blue chicks - I have 1 blue copper marans and 4 bluebell eggs in there :) can't wait!

After much google research I have decided it is a blue copper maran nowhere near enough yellow down to be a splash

After reading about some breeds I have not seen before I had to go look them up.

Those Bluebells look awesome, and they are a big bird too. Might have to add that to my 'next time' list Along with some Marans and Buff Orpingtons. If I can find a supplier over here.

I really need to find a bigger property!

Day 19 is officially over for me now and we are into day 20 (funny that) Last hatch this was the day all the action started, but I have a feeling this one might for at least 21. Spotted some wiggling, hope to see some more when I sit still for a bit tonight.

Not long now!

Lock-down is tonight for me. I added on to the brooder yesterday with a screen partition so the two hatches can see each other (cardboard boxes). The first hatch is three weeks old now. They're a little confused about the new, empty and inaccessible room on their brooder but all will be revealed soon. And I'm getting a couple of midget turkeys too, probably around hatch time so it will work out well.

Having trouble finding that breed here, but it does look very close to a Blue Australorp....and we can get them here. In fact, there is a very slim chance we have one in the 'bator now. There was one or two blue's in the 'lorp pen, but the breeder said she did not often get chicks from them. Never know though!

Pic of a blue Australorp.

Yes, I am a grown man, former soldier and current petrol head that is flat out clucky!
