Really?!? 28 weeks old, not laying

I have BO and one started at 27 weeks old and the other @ 30weeks.. The one that started @ 30 weeks --has been my best layer. Missing only one day a week.. She is now in FULL molt ('naked as a jaybird')and has laid two eggs since she started--one was soft /rubbery shelled but the other was prefect... They will lay and it will be wonderful...

I have four EE and one SLW that are about 27 weeks old and no eggs from any of them. They all are huge, fat, and beautiful with big red combs and wattles.

Buncha freeloaders.....grumble....grumble....

I'm in the same boat! My SLW and BO's are 28 weeks and nothing. My 24 week old Olive Egger has been singing up a storm about her eggs, but nothing. I'm thinking about doing a Rooster pin-up calendar in their coop soon if we don't get crack-a-lackin here pretty quick!

My experience with EE's is that they take the longest to start laying and rarely lay eggs in the darkest 2 months of the winter no matter how much light I give them. Yes, 2 whole months most years without EE eggs! I keep one EE pullet each year just for the customers who get a kick out of an occasional green egg. Otherwise I see them as pure free loaders.

My freeloaders seem to be my BA's. The RIR's were first, the New Hampshire was next followed by my EE. The Australorps, who got picked because Henderson's said they were great layers, have not even looked at the nest boxes. They are 23 wks and counting.

You guys are making me glad that my newbie order was RIR and leghorns. They were born in may and have been laying for a month now!

And the leghorns had huge eggs right off the bat.

I guess I won't hold my breath on my australorps and EE's (14 weeks now)..

I have a 30+ week BR who laid daily for over a month and now hasn't laid in a month and I have a 28 week EE who laid one blue egg and nothing since.

Go figure...

I guess they just operate on their own time.
