really creeped out right now

Or maybe just a really ferocious cat. I was reading today about one who pretty much attached himself to an would-be burglar's face and sent him running.

Maybe lock a few doors. Just because you might live in the middle of nowhere does not mean someone would not come lurking around.

That is great to hear. The best thing to do is to just keep your mind busy, otherwise every little noise will make you jump.

How are your mice doing?

i'm surprised anyone remembers them! they are doing fine. we had a teensy population explosion a few weeks ago. one mouse had escaped in september and i was completely amazed to get her back after such a long time! of course she was pregnant...

Nowadays whenever I'm at home I keep the heavy door locked from the inside.

The screen door is too fiddly to lock if I want to go outside regularly, but I always feel safe when the heavy door is bolted.

If your dog isn't freaked anymore it's probably nothing...but a pencil??? Haha..

Then again, I once investigated a noise in the basement with a razor knife, not much better, I'll admit..

We have a huge range of kitchen knives that I would probably grab if someone tried to break in, but seeing as I live in the middle of a quiet suburb it wouldn't be likely to happen. I suppose I could just slip out the front with the phone and go hide at my neighbour's place.

If not, I suppose I could always run to the shopping centre, that isn't far.
