Really noisy hens!

We recently added two Welsummers to our hen house and today they came out for the first time.

OMG.

They are so loud, and they "talked" incessantly -- at 8am on a Sunday morning.

We had to catch them and lock them back into the hen house, and we're going to have to take them back. Our Araucanas and our RIR are very quiet in comparison. Is it just that larger birds are noisier?

So sad. I really wanted Welsummers!

if its there first time out then of course they going to make more noise,you have to give them some time to settle in...although i have a buff orp that is so loud and has been for months now! and yes early in the morning is her best time to bork lol

Oh cool, so they'll quiet down.

Hmmm thinking of it, I remember being alarmed at how noisy our Araucanas were when we first got them. And they're not at all vocal now.

Oooh I do hope they do quiet down and settle in. I really wanted Welsummers!
