This is a friend’s chicken. Years ago she had bumble foot and after it was treated her leg started to get more and more swollen. She doesn’t limp; and stands on her leg without apparent discomfort. It is warm to the touch. Any body ever had anything like this??

I haven't seen anything like it but wow ! Hopefully someone has ,I am going to watch this for sure. It has to hurt chickens are very careful not to show any weakness. Poor baby.

Soaking in epsom salt would make it feel better but something else is most likely going on. Infection from mites maybe? I have no idea sorry

As you say they don’t show pain and she walks fine just a little like a very fat person on that leg

Cannyou post pics of the foot pad? That looks like a massive infection possibly from a combination of the bumblefoot and scaly leg mites. She probably needs Epsom salts warm soaks to the leg, antibiotics, and I would try to see a vet.

Do you think an infection from mites could cause such an infection ?

Any suggestion on which antibiotic?
