I grew up with tons of cats and have found and been subject to many "gifts." One was a live rabbit that died later another time it was finding a mouse head in the bed. It's disgusting but hard to get angry when you know they're just trying to contribute to the family. My current kitty, the Dark Lord Sinbad, likes lizards. In my old apartment I'd often find lizards and their separated tails, sometimes the numbers would be off but I'd never find the body that went with the lone tail, in my bathtub. Nothing like getting ready to shower and finding bodies in there.
Ours don't bring presents, they eat their catch.
More than one occasion we've found half a critter....
Bonus points for stashing it under the couch.
Weiner dogs are uberkillers... rats, treerats, possums... watch out.
So far no possums dragged in the house, for that I'm thankful. But still they could keep the squirrels out.

Yep, going barefoot does have its disadvantages, but I can't stand shoes so I guess I'll just put up with it.

Grit- I prefer barefoot myself, but have switched to crocs for outside work. Too much poop, too many really scary fire ant type bugs and now bunny guts. The crocs are like being barefoot and I can hose them off at the end of the day. I'll stay in crocs until it just gets too cold. Then I go to crocs with socks. I am a fashion guru!

Your comments are all so familiar to me, as we have three cats.
Our most proficient hunter is named Smudge, and he patrols around the poultry area and keeps it rodent free. He knows those rodents come up there for the grain! We let the chickens free range and often when we do, we see the chickens following him.
One day I kinda followed him, too, to see what made them enjoy his company. Turns out he is killing rodents, eating the parts he likes and then they finish the bodies off! The tail and head become fodder for chicken-football!
