yeah i agree thered still bea bunch of eggies jumbled out or cracked. The first shipment i ever got that had TONS smashed and cracked, never moved from their place, however there was no shock absorber, so the eggs took every drop and hit. ALl the eggs on the sides near the boxes walls were done for.

IMO wraping them individually is the best and its' fun unwrapping them all

Prices vary according to the zone you are mailing to also. I have to pay more to ship out west than in the zone I live in. Bubble wrap was 13 dollars at Sam's club for a box that will wrap about 10 boxes of eggs. It depends on the weight of the eggs to unless you are using the Flat rate. I try to send all my eggs in the 7x7x 6 priority boxes if possible. I have done better with them not being smashed or broken. I'm waiting for 50 boxes to come in now. They usualy don't carry that size at the P.O. . You can get lots of the stuff free and that does help. My P.O. gives me the rolls of priority tape. It is at there discretion to do that. I am in there several times a week usally so they are helpful to me.

I don't think the bubble wrap is necessarily essential. I've bought a lot of shipped eggs, and some of the best, safest pack jobs I've received have been in the bigger priority box [12 inch x 12 inch maybe?] with layers of crumpled newspaper, with eggs individually wrapped in tissue paper or toilet paper and inside foam egg cartons. Rarely do those break.

I have received eggs wrapped in bubble wrap that just had yolk oozing all over them from being crushed - so I'm not sure the bubble wrap helps that much.

The worst thing I've seen is shipping in a too small box though - I've gotten a couple of boxes of eggs shipped in a tiny box and both times most of the eggs were just destroyed - there wasn't enough room in the box to put in enough packing material to absorb shock.

I don't wrap mine in bubble wrap. I use paper towels doulbled and folded then roll the egg in it and tape in three places. makes a nice cushion around it. I then line my boxes with the bubble wrap and use it between the eggs. I pack tight so they can't move. I like the small boxes. They seem to work well for me.
I have recieved eggs wrapped in bubble wrapp and just piled together in box with stuff paper of some sort around them. There are usually lots of broken eggs.
I have packed mine lots of different ways. I once used to order the egg foam shippers with the holes cut for the eggs but it got to expensive and hard to find.

I use the bigger priority box (#7) and I charge $15.00 for shipping. It costs alot of money to ship eggs.

You have to buy bubble wrap, egg cartons, labels, tape. Most of the time there is no left over from the shipping by the time I get done. I have lost money on the postage lots of times.

If you auction eggs or use paypal, you have to take into consideration that there are paypal and auction fees the seller has to pay.

This year I am going to try the tri-fold cartons that are square shaped. It seems to me they will hold the egg more securely and will fit into the shipping box better.

Any eggs i've gotten bubble wraped were fine and dandy. Eggs i've gotten in foam, and not individually wrapped were icky and I had several to throw out.

guess it goes to show that it's what happens in transit more than how it's boxed. I'veheard some just ship them hidden in packing peanuts! I can't believe the eggs survive! LOL!

I agree shipping is expensive....in most cases it's more than the eggs themselves! HOwever I'm not complaining!

Flat rate box $12.95.

1dozen eggs take up some room in the box so less bubble wrap and peanuts.

1/2 dozen eggs takes more bubble wrap and peanuts. None of this is cheap.

Gas to the PO 10 miles one way from my farm even when you are the only 6 eggs leaving that day.

$15 is a bargin when you consider I have paid $15 S&H and had something arrive with $1.20 postage on it in an envelope.

When we developed our packing method we took 6 dozen kitchen eggs wrapped them in every various way we had recieved hatching eggs and dropped them off our two story roof and did a few other mean things to them. The one's that survived intact have become our 'packing methods' depending on what materials we have available. If the PO does worse to them then that I don't know what to say.

I have never had eggs arive broken that the box was not visably damaged.

the eggs that I shipped to kelly I wrapped each egg in paper towels put in a paper carton and then paper towels on top then closed the lid where they would be in there good and tight. taped the cartons down packed it plum full of news papers top and bottom where the eggs cartons could not move taped the box together. it was 12.95 plus .85 here for conformation. I did charge her 15.00 shipping for 30 eggs. Oh she did not have a single egg cracked or broken. If she had of I would have sent her more eggs

Kelly I am sorry if I over charged you the shipping on the eggs
Please accept my appology

cathy
