REASONS TO GET QUAIL

On my site I have $18 for 20 eggs. that's what i feel is reasonable for me

Yes, but those are for *HATCHING*, not making into a meal!

Right, but who's to say what the people getting them will be using them for? You don't know if they are really going to eat them, or if they are hatching them. I would say price them at what you would take for hatching eggs, that no one gets mad.

You get quail because they love you.

You can also find them on CL. I'm bummed that a few weeks back a guy was selling coturnix in the next town for $2.50 for males and $3 for females! Adult birds at that! But I wasn't ready for them. Still not quite, and now he's no longer posting. There's another guy farther out, but he's asking $20 for a breeding trio. Oy.

Edit: Hey, you can perhaps go in on an order with someone who has an incubator already. http://www.nwgamebirds.com/store.php?page=liveadult They're in Kennewick Washington, and they sell straight run Conurnix for $4 a bird (min 25 birds) They sell hatching eggs for $60 for 100 eggs.

To the OP Cody: I hear the eggs are very nutritious for you and a lot of folks like to take them on hunting trips because they're like a little energy shot. At least, that's what I hear. If you are a hunter you can tell her you are raising them for healthy snacks!

I'm thinking about getting some because I need to start learning how to process game and I thought I'd start out small. So far, I can't even cull my non-laying chicken!

I'm planning on taking my Hunter's Safety Course next spring. Plus, I'm married to a hunter with a high metabolism, so he needs small, easy to pack, and nutritious foods.

LOL as Shelley said, people can lie or change their minds after they purchase the eating eggs.

Hatching eggs are no different than eating eggs...so I (and most people) sell them at the same price...

The only way i'd sell eating eggs cheaper is if I KNEW they werent fertile

My 13 Coturnix quail are still producing 6 to10 eggs per day.
I incubated 100 of them and ended up with 32 chicks after the
infertiles, nohatches, and chick losses.

I enjoy sharing my eggs with friends here to hatch and several
people who buy chicken eggs have requested quail eggs so I've
given away 100 or so for eating.

Where I see the profit potential is adult quail. They sell for around
$3 each around here as a delicacy. Quail taste better than any
bird I've eaten.

This week I'll start another 100 eggs from Catcobb.

Quail are fun, productive, and interesting. They are different from
chickens. You can raise a ton of them in a small barn or shed.

They are so darn cute too.

Fish tank haha. Yes they are adorable at first however the smell will force you to keep them outside very soon. Not to mention fish tanks are a pain to clean. Stick to the cardboard box, it works much better and can be thrown out if it gets overly pooped out.
