Rebuilding my Farm

Thanks.

I may use sand, if I find a good deal for a semi truck load of it, for that is how much I will need.

My oldest brother's wife took bunch of pictures of my chickens, and gave me 2 CDs of pitures, so I will share them here. Enjoy.

Daron,

I like the proposed home page for your website. I hve been wondering when you were going to get the Golden Willow website going again. I checked itout a few times and didnt see much going on. Good to see you active on BYC Forum, Michigan thread.

BobBry- Yes, I had taken down my website right after the farm crash, for I had said what is the point of keep it up? Although the website is free. Yay. I have made major changes on it, took at lot of stuff out. It was sad to delete some of the pictures of my former chickens. But, a new farm, new beginning means new website, new pictures, and new farm name. The farm name was ''Golden Willow Farm and Hatchery'', I did not like it for it was a mouthful to say. Lol And I was changing the farm plan, it was too much stress to keep up with the order demands for the day-old chicks, I kept disappointing customers when I had a bad hatch rate and such. So, I wanted to make it easier for me, and found that shipping eggs is a whole lotta easier then hatching them. I will be letting any broodies hatch and raise the chicks, then sell the chicks. I will be hatching as many as I can, then sell them what I have, not before. Besides, rebuilding a new farm would make sense to have a new name-''Golden Willow Poultry''. I like it a lot better.

I have asked in the Michigan thread what to name him, and Opa suggested an Icelandic name ''Fridrik'' means ''peaceful ruler''. I love that name!

The brooder in the shed outside- All those chicks that I had hatched for the pass week are for the layer coop, not for the breeder coop. I promise.

With an exception of the Light Brahma and Araucanas, which will go to the breeder coop.

I had hatched 2 Light Sussex the same time I hatched the Araucana chick a month ago. I am sure that they are all roos. I was hoping that the Light Sussex would be Coronation Sussex to go with my Coronation Sussex pullets that I hatched in October. The eggs were Light Sussex splits. Shoot, Oh well, At least I got roos for my pullets.
I really need to post updated pictures of my first batch of chicks that I hatched since culling the last of my flock. They are getting big!

Blue rumpless Araucana- I have 6 eggs that had made it to lockdown a few days ago, and are due to hatch tomorrow.

Love the pictures! And your outlook on new beginnings. Congratulations on your 'most colorful rooster' win! Makes me want icelandics the hens are gorgeous too!

It sure looks like you are abusy lad. I'm sure it helps keep track of the birds and chicks comming and going when you are there and involved, but do u keep notes or a written reccord too. The pictures you post are great. I'm very happy that you are progressing with the new ,old, buildings and new stock. The housing looks lots larger and sturdier than what you had when brian and I were at the farm. Good job! Do you plan to keep all the birds enclosed in them all the time ? The free range you provided before was cool, neat, rustic, appealing picturesque etc. BUT is it your thought that the ranging and the unlimited access (by people) caused the eventual loss of your flock ? What a shame. I consider it a loss to not be able to visit, but I certainly understand why you will not allow it anymore. I assure you that WE did not have any contact with any chickens other than the ones we bought from you. Also the roos we took back to you had never been in contact with any other chickens, or been housed anywhere other chickens had previously been housed. When we talked last August I d
described our penn. I'll see if I can send a pict. of it to ya. Take care. I'll keep in touch. After all you have opend a new and exciting chapter in our life. Bob
