Good afternoon. I had ordered a few chicks from a farm a little north of us. It was 3 silkie straight run, and 2 cream legbar pullets. I was very thrilled to receive them but one little guy (well girl i hope) seems to have something wrong with its leg. it keeps it to the side and retracted up off the ground (close to its body). I've been trying to hand feed and help get her water but i'm concerned about her leg not getting better. After looking through some feeds on here i placed a hobble on her the day i received her, its been 2 days and she is still not any better. She is aprox 4 days old now. Here are some photos of her. Can someone please offer some advice?

:welcome Sorry for what you are dealing with here. Hopefully the hobbles and perhaps some vitamin supplementation will help correct this problem. Good luck.
Just wanted to say thank you again. Unfortunately, she didn't make it. I think she was just too small to begin with she was half the size of the other two silkies she hatched with and with a broken leg she just wasnt set up for success. I tried everything i could :(

I have had silkie chicks hatch like this in the past and it’s a deformity of the leg. They usually don’t make it. So sorry for you loss. I would contact the breeder for a replacement as this should have been seen by the breeder and not sold, unless you two had something already worked out.

Thank you. I did reach out to her immediately. She refunded me for the silkie, she said if i wanted a replacement i would have to pay shipping again so i opted for my money back :( . we did have two other silkies in the shipment and they have thrived. It just broke my heart to see this little baby chick suffer for a few days. She cried for 3 days straight. I was able to get her to drink water but only if i held her at the dish and supported her. I am happy that the other two silkies are thriving, but the one that we lost was the coloring and everything that i was hoping i'd get.

Since you have experience with silkies maybe you can help me with coloration. attached is a photo of the two thriving. They look identical but each picture is a different bird. when i received them they were light yellow, almost white. Now over the last day i have noticed their chest are turning gray. what color do you think these guys (ladies) might end up?
