Okay, I am new to hatching shipped eggs, and need some advice. I am sure many of the questions I have, have been asked over and over and over again on here. If there is a tutorial of what to do when you receive them up to when you incubate, please point me in that direction.
I received 10 bantam cochin eggs today, actually just minutes ago. I know they need a resting period before being put in the incubator. Any particular place for that...warm/cool room, dark/light etc? I am assuming they should be put in something like an egg carton but big or small side up? During the resting period, it's crucial that they need to remain undisturbed so any detached air sacs need to reattach, right? Any other tips or suggestions to help in this being a successful hatch would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you......

point down....wider side up...for air cell...keep cool....place in a carton one end higher than the other at a tilt...every few hours tilt other side up. like a turner.

good luck best I can do.

How long do I do this for? I've heard conflicting answers as to 8-12-24 hours.

yes 12hrs is good....I did the mistake of putting mine in the refrig. to store longer...my refrig. was too cold and I cracked a few eggs...

I do the same 12 hours to get them to settle.
Iam waiting for some eggs and the bator is up and ready.
Happy hatching to you and welcome.

Thank you! First time trying!!! These are cochin eggs and there are just a few that I cannot tell which is large or small side. Do I have to candle them then to find out which end the air sac is at?

I read somewhere on heat pad hatching...do a search and type that in see what you get...yes,

Never heard of heating pad hatchiing but I did read here on Byc electric fry pan hatching. and you may want to candle your
eggs to see if they are clear you may see the bulls eye and know you have a fuzzy butt.
