I suppose JJMR that you would rather have hard boiled eggs, rolled in toasted sesame seed salt. Now that is a favorite snack around here.

JJMR don't forget your quail marinated in Italian Dressing for a bit and I either toss it in the mic or saute them. Actually one of our favorite quick meals. I take a package from freezer camp, give them a good squirt of dressing and let them defrost, then cook. YUM.

Spinach quiche with breasts of quail was delicious. Though of old, they put cooked whole quail tucked into the egg pie (quiche). (I think 17 or 18th century). DD wasn't going for that, though.

Robo, you need to double the Dill in that recipe for any flavor and add a hot pepper and some real oniona and garlic buds. Sit back with a beer (semi dry wine in my case) a jar of pickled eggs and beer (wine) sex those feathered birdies. Geesh, where's your sense of adventure.

When I first tried it I ran into that problem. Now they have some flavor though. A little bit of red pepper does the trick.

Sorry, I read raspberry vinegarette (YuuuK) and that stopped me dead in my tracks. Didn't even see the rest of that line, let alone what was in it. How could they do that to my beloved Raspberries. I did try it once, years ago. Maybe it was a bad brand or something.

So with quail do you have to let them rest after they are butchered?? Like the whole 24 hour thing with chickens?

And does anyone use a killing cone for them? I was thinking maybe a 20oz soda bottle.. But the birds might be too big for that

I don't give them any feed the day before butchering day. Then they are weighed, and then comes the time for the main event. I either grab their wings right below the neck and pull the head. Or I break out the bolt cutters and have at it.
