Recomendations on how to keep chicks from kicking feed all over the brooder?

This kind has always worked best with my younger chicks to control waste. You can also put it or other style feeders on an upturned storage bin lid to contain the scatter.
I used to use those but it was annoying having to build barriers to go along the middle, to stop them perching on top and pooing into it. And one especially chunky chick managed to get his head stuck in one of the holes once

Oh true, you'd think after cleaning a brooder with a dozen chicks in it twice already today id remember all the poop 😂 my timeline to get them outside has definitely expedited the last couple of days haha

I use wooden pellets as bedding and kick them out for at least part of the day starting with short trips at a couple of days old. Don't have to clean a brooder out at all that way, never mind twice a day!

Yeah, will do that next time for sure, I'm gonna keep using the puppy pads I got till I've used them all since I dont wanna waste them and dont have anything else to use them for but with the pads theyre getting the poop all stuck to their feet so I'm laying fresh down twice a day. Next batch I'll be brooding right out in the coop for sure haha

If you put in something higher than the feeder, they tend to perch on that instead.
