Recommendations for online chick buying?

I really dont know where to post,sorry if I post it in the wrong section,I have never ordered chicks online,does anyone know one that sells and ships healthy chicks and is trustworthy?I am looking for some light brahma chicks and I can't find any locally.

Another +1 for Meyer Hatchery. I've only lost about 2/100 chicks I bought from them and they always add some more in for free to cover losses, so I'm definitely positive! You can pay a small fee extra for vaccinations and Sav-A-Chik. Can't go wrong with them, and there's a lot of them who post here on the forum.

I've purchased 26 chicks total from Meyer Hatchery. I did have a few losses last year but not the first year. Mine were vaccinated for Mereks for 50 cents each.

Meyer Hatchery is fantastic. I've ordered 60 chicks from them before and only had two that didn't make it. In 2018 we ordered hatching eggs. Every experience with this hatchery has been a good one. Just be sure to opt in for vaccinations if you're getting day old chicks.

I placed my order on the phone but you can order online too, IdealPoultry has no minimum limit. Plus out of 26 chicks I ordered, not one arrived ill or dead and almost a month later, I still have yet to lose any or even worry about any getting ill

Yes I had mine vaccinated. And it was a little pricy just because of the fast shipping and how far they had to go. But the chicks in general weren’t that pricy

How many chicks would y'all recommend for a newbie like me to get?I only need 1 male to make it to adulthood,I'm hoping to trick a hen when she gets broody and starts hatching eggs,just put the chicks under her and hope for the best,if this doesn't work I will not know what to do,I have an old heat lamp but don't know how to care for chicks when they are not under a hen,I have never done it.

If you have a heat lamp, food and water... there's not much to it. You ever go to tractor supply and see the chicks they have for sale? They're just in big water troughs. The main thing they need is that heat, and plenty of it. But they're smart critters, they know how warm they want to be and will form a circle around the edge of the light at the temperature they like. If they're all right under the light, then it needs to be a bit lower.

As for dropping them under a broody hen... you better make sure she's had enough time for the broodiness to stick.
