Recommendations for waters...

I have one of these (might be another brand - Harris Farms) in my grow out box. DO NOT recommend. Leaks. Where it twists together tends to collect dirt, dust, and everything else... Its so bad, I've taken to filling large margarine tubs with water for my birds before the join the main flock, and I'm thinking of pouring an inch or so of concrete into the bottom, to keep them from tipping. Then melting a bit of wax on top of that to seal the 'crete.

Lol, that's the waterer I was talking about using. I've tried to get my flock to accept other types, but nah. That's what they like. Well, I have another one that you have to fill from the top. I hate it even more than this one tbh!

Good to know.

I have this one in addition to the one you shared. This one (for me) is far too heavy when full, so I only add what would have gone into the other waterer, and the bottom detaches from the jug, so the entire red part and the bottom of the jug will grow mold and has to be cleaned. It takes me standing on the red part with both feed to get it detached. It is a lot more stable and doesn't get knocked over as easily.

I've had huge problems with leaking from the other waterers, but they are easier to clean in carry.

And to summarize past posts (for anyone just joining), my girls wouldn't take to the nipples or cups. One commenter said the cups were dirty anyways.

:welcome :frow I have auto waterers at all of my coops but I have a lot of birds. I do like the Easy-Fill waterers. I do set them up on blocks.

I love the auto waterers as well. This particular one, I have, and loved it at first, especially since you don't have the turn upside down thing with them, you can just open the lid and put the water in.
The little thing at the bottom that allows it to be opened at the top without gushing out keeps messing up and not letting water flow out. I'm sure it's the ducks that were doing it getting to much stuff in the bottom and it ended up clogging. that one just sits in my yard now by my rain barrel and I just fill the ring when I'm filling waters so that there are backups for everyone.
My favorites are the nipple waters. It's funny watching the ducks drink out of them. They learned that from watching the chickens. They have their own water dishes and small pond to keep their noses clean when eating but sometimes just need a clean drink I guess. No matter how I clean their bowls they are ALWAYS a mess. Ducks are SO Messy!! Especially as babies.
***edit*** I guess you have to click on the image link in the quote to see which one I was referring to...

If you mean the little green or red plug over the nipple in the Easy-Fill waterers, I take them out and then have no more issues with them.

Cmom, do you have problems with this one becoming clogged or the little piece at the opening where the water comes out moving around so it doesn't work? (probably my ducks and geese causing that). If you have, what did you do to fix it?

I love this! You can find a bunch of different ways to make it on YouTube
This is what I want to do for my seramas that are in individual cages of pairs and trios. At least until I get a tractor built for them. Right now they are the only chicks/chickens I have that are not on nipples. I only have one set of them that prefers the nipples over a bowl of water.

I have the Easy-Fill waterers in a couple of coops. In one I have to fix the auto waterer and the other has no power or water to it. It's a backup coop and pen so if I need to isolate any birds I put them in it.
