As far as those ceramic heaters, they are the worst possible heaters in areas where there is a chance of dust which, given the amount of dust and flying pine shavings is most coops, would make them a fire looking to get started. Remember in a cold area they'd probably be on 24/7 especially if someone were trying to keep the temperature above 32.
While this may work for you it would be very bad advice for most. Most large breed chickens can take temperatures well below zero if they have a dry place out of the wind. Giving them heat has more downsides than up--not to mention downright dangerous.
