Red area just above the beak (Worried)

It's a little cockeral..sooo cute! The feathers are different because it's a boy..i sorta thought it looked like a bramah mix of some sort..my bramahs chicks get combs like that and have more colorful feathers at 5-6wks..could also maybe be a Cochin mix

Does this chick have a double back toe ? In one picture it appears that it does. I would expect a silky cross to have darker skin, but a double back toe could indicate some Silky DNA. As others have said the chick is a cross bred and very likely a cockerel.

My gut feeling is that this seller is selling barnyard mix chicks. And, although I do think there is a first generation crossing (Brahma and Wyandotte) that could yield this look, it's proof that they either have no idea what their parent birds are or they're selling hatched eggs and had nothing to do with the breeding. Or, they know exactly what they're doing and they're liars... That happens too.

The chick has the look of good health and unless you were planning on showing or breeding, that's all that really matters anyway.
The seller had the parent bird and he did say it was a Pekin. Maybe he made a mistake perhaps?

I am not that experienced with chickens so I am not that good with breeds I just went with what the seller told me it was.

It does seem to have a double back toe and some darker feathers. I am very confused at the moment

I have just checked all of my 4 chicks I have bought from the seller and the all have double back toes! Since I am a newbie I didn't spot this!:barnie:th

The only 2 breeds of chickens he had was Silkie and Pekins
When you mix a Silkie and anything else, you normally get a chick with a slight crest, normal feathers, 5 toes, and dark skin. Yours has no sign of that dark skin and no crest. It has a comb type that cannot hide behind genes for the single comb a Pekin would have. This would mean the crossing happened a ways back and then they kept breeding the mixed birds in spite of incorrect traits.

Does that make sense?

It does make sense. So I am owning a bird that is a mixture due the breeding of birds that have incorrect traits.
