Red comb and wattles..Is this an EE?

This bird has always been one of my friendlier birds. It usually runs out to greet me and jumps on my lap if I sit down. It's other hatch mate started crowing about 3 weeks ago and has a peacomb. Both have tuft cheeks.

Bird is 12 weeks old and pretty quiet.

No rust colour on its body but a slight green tinge in the tail feathers. I don't see any pointed tail feathers pointing towards roo but the green sheen makes me wonder.


Is this indeed a EE and what sex??

Yes, that's an EE, and he's a cockerel.

If that’s a breed, I don’t know it. It looks like a mix cockerel. If there is EE in him it’s pretty diluted. EEs typically have pea combs and green or slate colored legs.

I agree it's a roo, but perhaps not an EE? He has a single comb which would be unusual. I suppose all EEs are mixes but this one might be "even more" mixed with something like a Columbian wyandotte or something else with that coloration. Where did you get him?

Ok I was starting to wonder because this is what my other one looks like and it has the peacomb but bright orange/yellow legs and it started making sounds like a donkey about 3 weeks ago. This one has been quiet. I'm assuming it's a mix or some sort. Was really hoping it was a pullet.. looks like I have 2 hens and 3 roosters

I bought him from a local farmer, barnyard mix straight run. I got 2 chicks that looked identical at the time and she told me one was for sure a female but as time went on I lost track of which one it was suppose to be.. the other one has more of the EE characteristics like the peacomb and not much of a wattle. But it started making noise to which I'm assuming is a crow about 3 weeks ago and this one has been silent. Both have the tuft cheeks and mullets but no idea on what breeds. Here is a shot of the other one and
