pure luck I guess....

but I kinda know enough of the secret handshake/ table dance to get into the club.

My birdies are coming on strong... still no eggs from the bantam though... I hate the waiting game.

It appears that there is a Son & few Daughters of the Hulk in one of the grow out pen's, I have been watching them closely and they have really started to BLOOM this past few weeks, I am pretty syked over that and will soon seperate them. They won't be ready to lay till spring but the son of hulk is already topping hen's, so heres to hoping the spring hatching season will be a good one. Just a little update on them.

I'm in the process of moving, with a bit of a rain delay at the moment. I'm going to have to stay with my dear old mother for a bit, but signed papers of intent to buy, and put earnest money down, on a little acreage not too far from here yesterday. With two moves, and a trip to Crossroads, the next few weeks will be a bit frenzied....................... but I'm grateful the Good Lord has provided. I even have an egg pipped this morning. I was going to toss them when I found out I have to move by Friday, but figured out they were supposed to hatch the day before my last one here, so the chicks will be one of the last things packed out of the house.

Steve, That is great you have found a place in the country! May the almighty chicken reign free.

I have some Silkies that should start pipping today.

It is always fun to discover something in the developing birds. I found one obvious Cornish Giant cross pullet today. I don't look too closely at the middle aged birds because they can change so much at this age, but this girl caught my eye because she has the definite Cornish head on her. The black in her could only come from one place too. I think she will be added to my meat pen shortly.

It is calling for rain here today too. We need it, but it delays my building and finishing the new big house. I would show you all, but my eldest had to use the camera for school today. Of course, when you see it, you will all hate me, so just as well

The 3 Cornish from Gary's dad are growing out really nice, or at least the 2 dark ones are. The Splash had some health issues for a few days, but some baby vitamin drops got it back on its feet and going. It is a little stunted though compared to the other 2. I need to get them somewhere to get some good pictures and show you all. I took another of my DC roo (Dumbledore-daughter named him, not me). he is finishing getting his new feathers in and he sure is a wide dude. I am going to hate eating him. Okay, I won't hate it, but it will give me a little sad feeling for a minute. I am taking a pick-up load to get processed on Friday. I have a few that came from my mixed flock this spring that will be interesting to see how they dress out. But next year's intended crosses are going to be much better, I can feel it in my wishbone already.

I hope your move goes smooth, Steve.
Y'all take care. Wish I could meet you all at Crossroads, but I can't get away for that AND Columbus. Maybe next year though.

I'm not so easy, could be a spy from the broiler industry, sent down to infiltrate this project....... Quick, what's your favorite color ?

One thing to remember, there can appear to be a considerable size difference in these birds. Often times it is mostly how hard/tight of feather they inherited, or not. Get one in hand to be sure.

I'm sure it's him Big Medicine. Don't let him know we're on to him , but he is a spy from the broiler industry, sent to buy up all the Cornish so that nobody can breed a meatbird. It's much more complicated than it seems.................... the job as a spy is only a cover; he's actually working for big brother as a secret agent of the USDA!

Your mission, should you decide to ac
