Red Laced Cornish X and project talk (pics p. 8)

Happy Boxing Day Everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

And this is what we had for dinner:-
Rack of goat with curry sauce, cous-cous and tomatoes and courgette

and to accompany it, a 22 year old Louis Martinin Reseve Cabernet Sauvignon, that was simply wonderful

`My BQ black Orpington X Hatchery Dark Cornish at 12 weeks. He's same size as his DC mom, with his Orp dad's feathering. His dad is 10 months old and 10 lbs. I estimate the hen (around the same age, not sure of exact hatch date) at 5-6 lbs. Shes much smaller looking than my 7lb Orp hen but solid as a rock so under all those feathers I'm sure the orp really isn't as much bigger as she looks.

Dad and mom - a little raggedy looking as it's been wet here:

Terdly and Mom. Hmm some resemblance here!

Feathers of dad and face of mom - I must have taken a million pics of him this morning and he just moved too much, these were the best I got

Anyway yes, I think he'll be pretty darn big. I haven't weighed him yet but he jumps on my shoulder and he feels nearly as heavy as his mom does.

Lookin' good for 12 weeks.

Thanks Steve. I was worried cause he was just always seeming small.. but in the last week he's suddenly getting big. I'm wondering what he'll look like when he finally grows into those legs that suddenly got 3 inches longer.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! May everyone involved in this thread show great progress towards establishing that self-sufficient meat bird in 2012, as well as prospering in all other ways. Let's keep this thread rocking.
