My sweet 1 1/2 year old barren rock hen has this squishy red lump under her vent. She acts normal, poops are OK, and she lays an egg almost daily. What could this be? I am a newbie urban chicken lady. I added a picture. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. I feed her organic layer crumble. She will get an occasional scrap of lettuce and some scratch with worms. She loves crickets as a monthly snack.

Since she is acting normal and laying it may be a hernia. It's hard to tell in a picture. If you have a vet that sees chickens they can tell you for sure and if it's repairable. If that's what it is then they can live for quite some time normally, but there are some risks. Here are a couple of links, and you can google to find some images for comparison to what you are seeing.
