Still they keep coming back ! I know having 300 chickens doesn't make it easy but geesh.... The worst area is the bantam Barn which is a 24' L X 20'W X8' high that has a 5' walk through the middle. It has a metal roof and the pens are about 4' off the ground, and they are wire floors with wire sides. Right now I have it tarped in because of the cold, but when it warms up it is open..... ??????????????? I've sprayed all the wood and in crevices but can't get rid of them. My poor Partridge silkie roo looked like he had an eye infection and when i picked him up I noticed a long scab, then another scab on his head... then noticed all the mites !!!!! I dusted him and put some Ivomec on his neck..... My poor Polish get it bad too...... I'm at a loss...........

Hey, I just found this online...Pyrethroids, organophosphates, carbamates, citrus extracts, vegetable oil and mineral-based products (both liquid sand dusts) have been used to control red mites in the environment. For northern fowl mite it is essential to apply approved insecticides to the affected birds. Hope this helps!

PS, I found this on The Poultry Site website.
