Do you have pics from when she was younger? I hatched some silkie eggs that I was told were red silkies, they are only 4 months old but are not near that dark. So I'm thinking ther are going to end up being buff. Wish I had a pic, I'll take one when I get home, they are the same color all over unlike my other buff silkies.

I dont mind what they turn out like.

I brought her and her babies last week so unsure of what she looked like.

There seems to be 4 dark 2 between dark and light and 2 light ones.

They did say she is a pure bread red silkie and 8 pure red silkie chicks but i really dont think they are all dark

what does that mean ?

i dont mind what they are as they are my pets and i dont look to bread from them, i just wondered if they were the same why such different colours

I realize this is an old thread, but I was wondering is anyone breeding for type and color (Red Silkies)? I'm looking to expand my gene pool and would like to add some very dark red, bearded chicks to my flock. I'm currently hatching my own but would like to mix some in. Does anyone have any of these (bearded) in eggs or chicks to sell?

i have those color birds but i call then dark buff and there in my buff breeding coop

I have buffs in a separate coop, I'm looking to keep the dark color separate. I have some hatch from my reds that I would consider buff, but the majority hatch dark. I just keep petting out any that are not dark enough. I'd like to add some other dna to the mix and see if I can darken the color I have and increase the size of the cushion and crest.
