Red star or comet???

Quote:
Hmm...That's interesting. I just got a Red Star chick from MPC yesterday and she is not chipmunk looking (compared to other chipmunk pics I've seen on BYC posts). Unless maybe they substituted something else? I just figured this had to be the red star since I easily identified the others in the shipment and had never seen a red star chick before.

but I think they were yellow @ that stage!!!

You can have lots of variety in what goes into a red sex link chicken. Different hatcheries call them different things, makes them sound fancier I guess. Here is basically how you can make them from the wiki. I know there are even more breeds you can use than this

Red sex-links are a cross between a Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire rooster and a White Rock, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Rhode Island White or Delaware hen.

So in the above example there are 8 different combos of birds that could have been used as the parents of your babies.

Haha, they look like my Golden Comets.. I think they are the same too.. I have studied this too. I have found that the ones most people say are Golden Comets have a little more white in the back end, than the Red Stars. Just my thoughts.
