Red worms in poo UPDATE** 9/22/11

Quote:
does she have coccidiosis? My chicks had those same things in their poo when they had that. Is there any blood in the poo? Are you treating the coccidiosis?

the vet said yes, she had coccid. he believed. he gave me all kinds of drugs for her to combat the start of it. we are going to hit it hard right now. She already seems to be acting more like a chicken after two days of drugs. She is eating better, is less lethargic, running around actually! i have hope~ I didnt have blood per say, but what looked like shed intestinal lining.

my chicks had immediate improvements as well. Are you giving the entire flock the medicated water? cocci is highly contagious.

They are baccckkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have treated my entire flock for the tapeworms twice. They have spread to the rest of the flock as well. I saw them again last night in another ones poo. I retreated once again with the Valbazene. 1/2 CC per bird.

Peaches is doing AWESOME since the cocci treatment and the worm treatment. She has gained weight, is running around with everyone, etc.

I had to go through 3-4 treatments myself because they kept coming back. I don't know if I'd miss one or what. Be sure to do the repeat in 7-10 days. I've been putting sand in my run and coop and I think that is helping too.

I agree. Three treatments might be necessary, and a fourth treatment...space the treatments out 10 days apart. I recently dealt with tapes in one of my BR's...it took 3 treatments to clean her out. It was time to worm the rest of my chickens anyway and I went on ahead and did them as well. They are currently on the downhill side of finishing up their withdrawal period after their second treatment.
Peaches looks great:D
