Red yolks??????

    Any ideas why our chickens yolks would be all red.???? Even my adults. I have not changed feed.. I have not changed anything I usually do or have done for years.. My new layers that I bought in the spring all of their yolks are all red and have not ever been of normal color.. Thank you in advance for any ideas

    I don't know, but that's pretty weird. Maybe some red dye in the feed?

    are you feeding them more corn / grains by chance? My friend feeds their chickens alot of corn/grain (moreso than we do) and their yolks are definately a more orangey color than ours are. When I first saw theirs (before we got chickens) I thought they were bloody eggs and kept throwing them away [​IMG] until hubby told me it was just because of what they were eating.

    I still didnt eat them.. ick... mine are a nice deep yellow, the way I think they should be LOL
