Red yolks??????

Lots of antioxidants in their diet? Well done! Love to see pics, too...Long ago, you had to feed lobster shell to get red eggs, here...

my golden comets are producing a very dark yellow yolk....yum!

I noticed my new layers' eggs are darker than the rest -- I assumed it was because their eggs are more concentrated, but maybe it's the breed. Mine are golden comets. I love the dark, delicious yolks...
 
A few of my pullets are laying dark orange eggs. Most eggs are yellow though. Don't know why. They are all on the same diet. The free range gueinas here lay the almost red yolked eggs. Love the rich yolks!
 
I have silkies and have had 4 girls here all summer. I added 3 more chickens and they lay a lighter yoke . The older silkies have a very dark orange. I'm guessing its partly genetic and partly nutrition. Weird because the splashes have the darker yokes and the white one has the lighter color yokes... I guess i'll find out if its diet if hers darken up.
