You look to have culled already. I only see one rooster! What did you use as first criteria? I'm thinking it will be weight first for me... my hens are smallish. Then... I'm not sure.

I never got your PM . I am very happy with the way my Redcaps are turning out. I have 5 males and they had started to fight a little so I put 4 in another pen. Yes the weight will be the first thing I want to bring up as I have read that hatchery Redcaps are on the smaller side.

I just found the "old and rare breed" thread... interesting. Also found "color genetics of the Redcap" thread. I'm getting a headache but learning a lot.

Can anyone recommend a beginner book on chicken genetics? My Genetics course in college was long ago.
