I think in my case it may've been the makeshift hatching baskets that weren't vented at the bottom. I think it disrupted the airflow and caused cold spots like the one the Ayam eggs were in. Just a theory though.

But why the dried out membranes before they ever pip? I wouldn’t think cold spots would do that but maybe.

I did notice the shells on the Ayam eggs were a bit thinner mine, thinner even than store bought eggs. I'm not sure if that's a breed trait or not. It could be part of why they're so expensive and possibly harder to hatch. That still doesn't explain what happened with Pot's remaining eggs, though.

Haha it cracks me up that someone on there got silkie hens strictly for incubating their ayam eggs I have about 6 broodies at any given time. Broodies are better hatchers. The only thing I don’t like about them is that the chicks can end up more skittish if broody mom raised (though it really does depend on the mom!)

I'm seriously hoping that's not the case with my broody. She still lets, me handle her to check for extra eggs, she fluffs up and grumbles, but that's it. She tells the other birds to 'Fluff Off' but comes to me for scratches and treats.

I'm hoping she lets me handle the chicks once they hatch, but only time will tell.

Little Finley is having quite a bit of difficulty. She (we'll use that for now) is having trouble standing and keeps her head tilted back which means she isn't eating or drinking on her own.

I don't know if she has wry neck or if the difficulty is just from being stuck in the membrane for too long. As a precaution I gave her 3 drops of Nutri-Drench undiluted by dropper. I followed this with several (5-6) drops of electrolyte solution, she wouldn't take more than that. I tried a bit of egg yolk, but she won't take much of that either.

Is there something else I should/could be doing, or stay the course? How often and how much water/nutri-drench/electrolytes should i be trying to give her?

I tried putting her in the brooder with the other chicks hoping she might eat and drink if she saw them doing it, but she barely seems to have any motor control.

Edit: She's in the incubator to stay warm, but I don't know if I should decrease the humidity now that the majority of the membrane has been removed.

The B vitamins give strength to muscles to hold the head up and is important to use with Wry Neck or Star Gazing in chicks. If you can get her to eat, scrambled eggs are high in B vitamins. I like "Poultry Cell", it's liquid, has all the needed vitamins for all poultry issues.

How much do I use and can I add it to the waterer for all the chicks, or just her?

I thought I had Poultry Cell on hand, but I can't seem to find it, so I ordered another bottle. I'll keep looking for the misplaced bottle in the meantime.

The nurti-drench seemed to help a little, but I'm not sure how much I should give her . . . is possible to overdose on it?
