Redinator's First Hatch-Along w Bonus Broody: And Everything Thereafter

Ok, it sounded more like an owl from inside the house, but it definitely has more bass than Kettle's does.

I like that the males that are crowing sound so much different now. Taz and Kettle sounded exactly the same, so I never knew who to be annoyed with, lol.

The last boy left that hasn't crowed is Buckbeak, unless he sounds like one of the other guys . ..🤔
How old were they when started crowing? My oldest boys are 12 and 13 weeks and no one is crowing yet.

Edit- sorry I hit post before I was ready. He's got a lovely crow! They're a really beautiful flock.

Andre just made 17 weeks on the 14th.

Taz and Kettle both started before the girls from that bunch started laying, so just under 4 months old (16 - 17 weeks)

When I had a mess of RIR cockerels they started trying to crow at 8ish weeks . . .early bloomers that lot. lol

Littleman, the Self Blue OE Game Bantam, started about 10 weeks old

Buckbeak is 14 weeks and hasn't crowed yet, as far as I know.

Mine may not be too far from it then. My males are all d'Uccles except for my EE and possibly my silkie. Jury is still out on that one.

You'll know, they'll sound a bit like they're being strangled at first, lol.
Lol yeah I've watched some videos and heard my neighbor's birds. Once I actually was headed towards the woods separating our property because I honestly thought it was her trying to yell for help somewhere. Just one of her new crowers...

Oh, I saw Littleman try to mount one of the Black Sexlinks today. As far as I could tell he wasn't successful.

I told him "There's 6 girls more your size, why don't you try one of them, lol"

Oh and one of the boys liked to crow right under my window at 4AM!

Soon after that I started penning them at night so they'd be on the other side of the yard until I got up to let them out, lol.

I can only hear my neighbor's birds if I'm outside. I told her one day that one of her ey dudes reliably crows every day at 5:40, which is when I get up and let my dogs out. She said, "uh huh. He reliably crows at 3 and 4 too, right under my bedroom window."

When Taz and Kettle started crowing I waited about two weeks, then asked my neighbor's if it was bothering them. Two said they hadn't noticed, one said he liked it, it reminded him of being on his grandma's farm when he was a kid. Talk about relieved!

That's how I am with it. I love hearing them. My neighbor also has turkeys and geese, and I love hearing them too. On the other side, those neighbors have 3 small dogs that I would like to hear far less, lol.
