How long do ducklings need to have a heat lamp? They have to be younger than 2 weeks or just now two weeks. They are currently in a plastic container with a heat lamp on 24/7. The plastic container is inside my house. The temperature in my house ranges between 70-78 degrees.

I live in South Texas so day time temperature is currently between 70-89 degrees.

Is there a point where I reduce how long the lamp is on? Or when do I take it off completely? I keep seeing mixed opinions on when to reduce the time or when I can take them outside.

By 2 weeks old i have never needed a heat lamp if they were inside the house. Especially in a plastic tub. There is not much ventilation.
but the best way to judge-
Are they staying under the heat?
Trying to get away from the heat?
breathing with their beak open/ panting?
sleeping with their legs kicked out?

Mine are brooded outdoors in a coop. With heat lamps. It is 90 under one and 80 under another. They are 2 1/2! Weeks old. And the only time mine are near the heat is at night .
otherwise they spend their day on the other side of the coop and near the doors with wire mesh. 45-50 degrees where they spend most of the time .
Ducklings dont need near as much heat as chicks. Especially once their thick down comes in
