It's almost impossible to sedate birds. They are very sensitive to any of the normal sedation medications, and can die just from being sedated.

That is true, although there are some surgical vets that have bird safe anesthesia. But they work as fast as safely possible.

There is a Dr K episode where she gives a rooster isoflurane gas to trim it spurs and it dies!

I'm surprised he didn't know any better. I thought it was something ALL veterinarians knew, from their training? At least, every vet I've known has known it.

Debeaking should be a crime, in my opinion, and that poor little duck will never be able to live a good life. How sad...

I know they're not your fault, so I'm not blaming you. They just make me sad.

Nah, my non broodies will tuck eggs.

That's interesting. I've not seen any of my hens that weren't broody tuck an egg under them like that.
Well, I'll take that back - one of my Banty Cochins will do that right BEFORE she decides to go broody. So I still consider it a sign of broodiness, as it means if there's any loose eggs around that she can plop on, she will do so within a day after the tucking action.

Maybe my birds are all weird, LOL!

That's an amazing catch! And proof chickens are completely silly. Need to lay an egg? I'll just sit right here and do it.
