rehoming lady bugs

I have an unhaunted 70 year old farmhouse, and cobwebs are part of the decor here, too!

I cleaned house for DS's birthday party last weekend, then put Halloween decorations out, then sucked up the Daddy-long-leg's webs. I felt silly.

Is your house really haunted?????????

Yes, totally not kidding. The house is 300 years old give or take a few (no one really knows the exact date of build, 1700 is what it is listed as by historians think it might be either a tad sooner or up to 1720), and it's only been owned by 3 families in all that time. The farm has sat empty for MANY years inbetween families and has only ever been sold privately due to the fear the neighborhood has of it.
Everyone you talk to has a story about it or things they've seen in the windows or outside and whatnot. We've had a paranormal investigation done, as well as a Medium in and it's haunted.
Not a big deal, it's nothing negative and now it doesn't even phase me anymore.
The main things include:
Footsteps up and down the stairs.
Doors opening on their own. Antique door handles on all doors, NO knobs, you must depress the thumb button to unlatch the doors, they make a distinct click.
Voices (recently calling us by name, Jenna or Jennifer and Keith, my husband, mainly a womans voice in a singsongy type of lilting voice, not scary, like she's looking for you, or like you'd expect a mother playing hide and seek with a child).
Water will turn on by itself in the utility room full blast, both handles turned all the way, we've had it checked out and it's fine.
Come downstairs at 3am to get a drink and find the ENTIRE house lit up like a Christmas tree when you know you turned off every light before bed. Reports from neighbors and friends who have driven by late at night and seen lights all on at odd hours.
Find every kitchen cabinet open, every kitchen drawer, etc. Late at night.
Living room TV would turn on every night to static or blue screen. We removed the TV from the living room. It was driving me crazy.
Shadows are seen always out of corner of your eye.
Well known town story is several people seeing a man in a trench coat walking through the front yard and clear into the wall, where they claim a door used to be before the home was expanded.
3 floor/story barn has definate areas of activty. Barn is bigger than 2500 sq ft. house.

Seriously, I am the BIGGEST scardy cat in the universe. I wanted NOTHING to do with this house, my husband pushed me into it as it was our only chance at having a farm. But over the last two years I have learned that nothing here is going to hurt us and it's just doing it's thing. People talk to us about it all the time. When I go to bed at night I turn on my TV in my bedroom, and I don't hear anything going on below me. When things first started happening when we moved in, I told "it" that as long as it stayed out of my bedroom I was fine. It has listened, though sometimes in the middle of the night when I get up to go to the bathroom the door to the room in between the bath and the bedroom will open in front of me on it's own. I just say "Thanks" now and keep on going. The house is most active on Monday and Thursday nights.
It is generally a creepy house. Every room has two doors in it that lead to another room, the entire house is situated around a giant central chimney that goes right up through the middle, there are 6 fireplaces. The basement foundation is all large boulders. Spiral staircase. There is a secret staircase, a butlers pantry, and servents quarters in the attic.
The house has been very preserved.

Hope I satified your curiosity :-) Sorry I hijacked the thread!

i have tried over and over to keep them for my garden, but my brother always puts the helpless things outside to freeze.

Oh for the love of all things good why on God's great green marble would anyone want to dump millions of lady bugs by helicopter or any other method twice a year or even at all???? I guess these people don't know what the importing of toads did in Australia huh?

Lady bugs eat the pine beetle larva. Pine timber is big business around here. It's natural pest control.

Nope, they are all too real. They commit suicide by the millions.

PineBurrowPeeps, I don't want to hijack the thread either, so let me quickly say

, and I wish, wish, wish I could stay at YOUR house for a night.
You could make some decent money doing a b&b thing. Even if it's just occasionally. There are a LOT of people who would be willing to pay to stay overnight if they knew it was haunted. Maybe not the locals......
They could even sleep in the barn!

Second, if your ever on Ghost Hunters, PM me! I LOVE that show. The other ones, not so much.

I'm still envious of you. The house sounds sooooooooo beautiful. I hope everything stays friendly there for you!
