How can I get my birds flight conditioned? Would it be OK to release Wisconsin Jumbo Bobs?

Thanks!!

You need to contact the local office of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. They can help you understand what laws may pertain to this in Wisconsin.

In most states, you cannot release game birds, except in tightly controlled circumstances with special permits. It is against the law in most places to release them without special permits. Even if you have a permit, it only lets you release them in certain tightly controlled ways.

NO! IT IS NOT OK TO RELEASE ANY CAPTIVE BRED BIRDS..... EVER

THIS IS A SERIOUS SPECIALTY. BIRDS MUST BE RAISED IN A VERY SPECIFIC WAY FROM HATCH ON TO ACCOMPLISH THIS AS WELL AS VERY SPECIFIC PERMITS AND SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED. YOUR BIRDS ARE #1 NOT PURE AND WILL CONTAMINATE THE WILD GENE POOL...#2 NOT RAISED CORRECTLY FOR THIS.... #3 NOT SANITARY (THEY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO OTHER POULTRY. AND BY RELEASING 1 OF THESE BIRDS YOU MAY WELL INTRODUCE DISEASE TO THE LOCAL WILD BIRD POPULATION AND KILL OFF EVERY WILD BIRD FOR 3 STATES IN ANY DIRECTION.) #4 TOO OLD TO EVEN ATTEMPT THIS

CAPTIVE RAISE FOR RELEASE IS A VERY SPECIALIZED SKILL. EVEN IF PERFORMED CORRECTLY BY ADVANCED BREEDERS THE DEATH RATE AMONG RELEASE BIRDS IS APPALLING. FOR CAPTIVE RAISED BIRDS THAT ARE NOT PROPERLY RAISED FOR RELEASE IT WILL BE A CERTAIN DEATH SENTANCE THAT WILL HOPEFULLY GET FULFILLED PRIOR TO CONTAMINATING THE LOCAL WILD POPULATION WITH DISEASE.

I agree with not releasing pure birds. I would not release any, but if I did I would release northerns. I do release them in a field where people ome to hunt on weekends. They come shoot and then I put out the recovery pens to catch what they don't kill. Next I sell them right back to them next friday. It is okay to legally do field trials for training dogs on private land, but do not release a contaminated bloodline with washed out colors into the wild. You will really hurt the dwindling population of bobs left in America. Do not release these birds at all. Even if only one or two gwt away it will do damage on the already struggling population of bobs that are still here.
