Reluctantly back in the clucking world!

The dog is roadkill.

The ahole turkey seems to have far too much testosterone. It's seriously messed up in the head. I had to actually fight it and win, then it peeved off. It jumped at me and left a long bruise on my calve. It stalks and curses at me, but only attacks when I turn my back or move away.
Now I just occasionally have to whoop its arse and it goes back to leaving me alone. Complete ahole. It loves DH, but as soon as he's gone, it turns on me.
The other turkey has a limp, she's still friendly.
Ahole is seriously confused as well. It attacks the nice hen, but then calls to her and encourages it out to walk. Then steals her food. 🙄 I hate this bird so much. It's evil, for sure twisted in the head...
They almost never lay any more or they eat them.

Got the chicken off the nest, all the eggs were no good. Then red started to brood. Ugh. Still trying to stop her. Granny hen keeps changing where she lays.

Probably going to cull the turkeys for dog food in autumn. Then keep DH away from the peep pens.

So exciting! Your flock is so cute. I hope you'll continue to update as they grow up and feather in. Hopefully this time you'll get more help in caring for the flock and it will be a very fun chapter in life 😍

Constantly escaping, so out they went!
Even tangled in sewing machine thread...🤦🏽‍♀️
Heater will go in later today, when I buy another extension cord.

I have a bourbon red turkey hen (her name is Toffee and she acts like a little puppy dog), she's 2 1/2 years old and doing great! They are a heritage breed so they don't grow as big as the broad breasted ones and have less issues regarding to their size (so yes, heritage breeds usually live longer than broad breasted). Though I also have a massive broad breasted bronze tom (named Taco) who's the same age as Toffee and was a rescue, but he is kept on a diet to keep his weight in check. His favorite thing to do is forage. What breed are the white ones?
