Husband wanted to try out turkeys & I told him they'll be dinner...but, idk if he really gets it. I have to feed & care for them, but they're his reality check.

Anywho, so now we're "fancy" coop people.

MIL bought a coop & auto door for them. Waiting on delivery.

Husband got 3 white turkeys & 6 chickens, unknown if pullet or straight run.

Chicks are 1 blue/gold Wyandotte, 1 Buff Brahma, 2 sapphire gems. 2 that lay mix color eggs. I think...lol. Turkeys are BBWs.

Do these big turkey cluckers need protection from the foxes and coons once big?

Coop will go on the left onto those pavers.
Rabbit cage wire will wrap bottom & be a skirt on the pavers. 1×1/2" wire.
Roof will be metal panels, tarp is temporary.

I have a bourbon red turkey hen (her name is Toffee and she acts like a little puppy dog), she's 2 1/2 years old and doing great! They are a heritage breed so they don't grow as big as the broad breasted ones and have less issues regarding to their size (so yes, heritage breeds usually live longer than broad breasted). Though I also have a massive broad breasted bronze tom (named Taco) who's the same age as Toffee and was a rescue, but he is kept on a diet to keep his weight in check. His favorite thing to do is forage. What breed are the white ones?

BBWs
