In high school we had a female guidance counselor that loved calling students out over imagined violations. She pulled me in one time for a dress she thought was too short. I'd been wearing it for months without notice. When she measured the hem turned out I was ok (whew). I think she was disappointed, lol.

She's the same counselor that called a friend of mine in to tell her she couldn't attend h.s. anymore since her pregnancy was too obvious. Only problem was, my friend wasn't pregnant, just chubby. Oh man, that was one teary-eyed girl.

NFC just...dang!

I actually liked uniforms, no matter how stupid... there was usually much less bullying in schools with uniforms....

Or at least, with a uniform, even when it was rarely washed, they never teased me about my clothes.

Kids can be just horrid nasty.

Not to mention parents.... I used to babysit for a couple of families who lived in quite an affluent area. The little girl in one of them was about 4, she was going to kindergarten/preschool and I saw a photo of her there wearing this checkered tunic. I asked her mother what she was wearing and her mum told me the kindie had brought in uniforms because the mothers were using their kids to show off the latest designer label outfits, different clothes every day, and the "regular people's" kids were feeling left out because they didn't have all these ridiculously expensive clothes. You can't imagine how ridiculous a tiny little 4-y-o looks in a school uniform.... It wasn't the kids, it was the parents. It's how all that "mean girl" stuff starts - with the parents.

I went to Catholic school and had to wear the dress uniforms...but I'm pretty sure they allowed us girls to wear pants in the winter - they were gray just like the boys. However, we just wore the dresses (jumpers) because we were teased that we were trying to be boys by wearing pants. The "rebellion" came in scrunching our knee socks down. LOL! Who knew that would later become a fashion trend in the 80's!

This is the only home phone that has ever been in my home . It's still used daily . It replaced a crank phone in my youth, remember party lines ??
