Replacing Nutrena All Flock 18%...

5x Flock Raiser...OS on the side.
I like the crumble....no spill/bill feeder allows it to be cost effective.

That is what I was using that Rural King is apparently no longer going to carry. I went back in the store to try to find something similar and they had another Nutrena brand that said Health Hens or something like that, it was also 18% protein and pellets. There was no price tag on the shelf but I grabbed bag and went to the register. Once I got up there it ended up being $19.00 after tax for a 50LBS bag. I won't be buying that any more. Going from $12 up to $19 is not really in the plan right now.

I saw in your other post you went to a mill, is this one close to you? If it's not the same one you go to already.

Thanks, I know Oley Feed carries pellets, just saying some can't find the pellets. I prefer not to use Purina, so I don't get these. That is one reason I am so happy the Bechtelsville Agway is now carrying Poulin & Green Mountain, since Oley is a great store, but they mostly carry Purina. I did see Oley is now stocking Kalmbach Non GMO Layer for anyone in the area who might be looking for a alternative to conventional or organic feed.

I sent an email to Cargil who makes Nutrena. I got a response back from the local sales rep and she says they are not going to discontinue selling this specific product and they (Rural King) are just out of stock right now. I checked again on Rural King's web site and all of the stores within 120 miles of me are now "out of stock". There must have been a delay in production, or shipping, or something. In my area this is always a common feed and there stores usually have a good supply of it. For everyone to be out something is going on but the Rep didn't go into the reason for the shortage.

I learned in talking with TSC employees about the stocking of my feed that corporate controls the ordering by monitoring sales...not sure how true that is, but it certainly has varied over the 5 years I've been buying it. Lately the bags have been much fresher, not sure if my commenting on MFG dates made a diff or just more people are buying it<shrugs> Talk to your store managers, be nice, and try to understand what constraints they may be under.
