replacing roosting bar?

I use soap, water and a paint scraper. Looks good as new when I'm done.

My roosts are made from 2X3s laid on their side like what was described by Peeps298. I have not seen poop built up on them. I'm not sure if it is because they're a bit narrower than the 2X4s or just tidier chickens. I have never needed to scrap it clean though and it is not caked up with any poop. Now saying that it certainly does not look new and pretty, just not caked

The essential thing is to make sure there are no splinters or rough spots on the roost that might abrade a chicken's foot. That could lead to a bumblefoot infection.
